2022-2023 청주미술창작스튜디오는 16기 작가들의 입주기간 창작 성과물을 전시로 선보이는 릴레이 프로젝트를 진행한다. 입주작가 릴레이 프로젝트는 창작스튜디오 입주를 통해서 새롭게 도출된 작가 개인의 작업 방향에 대한 진지한 고민을 일반 관람객에게 소개하는 전시이다. 이번 16기 작가는 총 18명이 선정되었으며, 2023년 2월까지 진행된다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

 


 

 

이번 전시에 보여지는 그림들은 2019년도부터 진행해온 <제3의자연 Das Dritte Land> 정원형식의 설치 작품과 연결되어있다. 이 설치 작품에서는 흰 꽃이 피는 한반도의 야생화와 검은 바위와 안개를 이용해 조선시대 수묵화의 정취를 표현하고자 했다. 이제는 달라진 남북한의 공통적인 문화를 돌아보고 문화 안에서 남북의 통일에 대한 이야기를 나눌 수 있는 작업을 하고자 했다.

 

본 작업인 <제3의자연 Das Dritte Land>이 조선시대 수묵화의 정취를 입체적으로 재현하고자 했던 것처럼 이번 작업에서는 묵과 약간의 수채물감을 혼용해서 꽃의 모습들을 담아내려했다. 식물에 대한 세밀한 표현보다는 잘 보이지도 않는 작은 꽃들의 초상을 그린다는 생각으로 그려나갔다.

 

베를린 Berlin에 설치되어 있었던 <제3의자연 Das Dritte Land> 설치 작품은 올해에 독일 중부 지역의 에르푸르트 Erfurt로 옮겨져 그곳에서 긴 시간 정원의 모습을 갖춰갈 예정이다. 이번 10월 3일 독일 통일의 날에 맞추어 작품을 공개하면서 함께 야생화 그림을 슬라이드 쇼 형식으로 선보였다. ■ 한석현

 

About the author

Inspired by the idea of the increasing influence of artificiality in our everyday lives, Han Seokhyun (Berlin, Seoul) explores manifestations of this phenomenon in his works. In a multi-faceted use of installation, photography and sculpture, he draws the viewer's attention to manipulations of nature that are now taken for granted. He aims to shed light on the changing relationship between man and nature over generations, especially with regard to the standardization of plants and food and an accompanying transfiguration of nature. The themes of his works concerns about notions of "contemporary nature" and the ambivalence of our understanding of nature. He was nominated as a Glennfidich Artist in Residence fellow, Scotland in 2015, and as an Arts Council Korea fellow for KünstlerhausBethanien, Berlin in 2016. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions such as Buk Seoul Museum of Art (Seoul), Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art (Geyonggido), Total Museum of Art in Korea (Seoul), Museum of Art Boston (Boston) and realised public art projects in Berlin (Germany), Idaho (USA), Dufftown (Scotland).
