2022-2023 청주미술창작스튜디오는 16기 작가들의 입주기간 창작 성과물을 전시로 선보이는 릴레이 프로젝트를 진행한다. 입주작가 릴레이 프로젝트는 창작스튜디오 입주를 통해서 새롭게 도출된 작가 개인의 작업 방향에 대한 진지한 고민을 일반 관람객에게 소개하는 전시이다. 이번 16기 작가는 총 18명이 선정되었으며, 2023년 2월까지 진행된다. ■ 청주미술창작스튜디오

Michelangelo said that "Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it." What he did was simply to cut off the parts that were not needed in order to reveal the shapes that were already there.

 

The shape already exists. So one can wonder, are we all looking at the same figure?

 

This exhibition called “VACANT LOT” is the inflection point which allowed me to resume painting. My previous works were installations, which were attempts to create a three-dimensional drawing shape in a positive space. On the other hand, with this exhibition, I am extracting the shape out of a negative space on a flat surface.

 

The attempts to approach the stereoscopic space from the point of view of the plane became another attempt to look at the plane in three dimensions through the “VACANT LOT” series. ■BoraLee

 

 

Artist BoraLee continues to work using various visual media such as installation drawing, sculpture, and media art. It focuses on visual experiments to sustain memories of overlapping and repeatedly distributed spaces as lines of time. In 2021, the Lotus for you walkways public art project was carried out at Shinjeong-submerged Bridge in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and the Cotton Candy Elephant public art project made of glass was completed at Gwa-cheon Seoul Grand Park. In 2022, Artist BoraLee was selected as Paradise Art Lab and will participate in the Art Lab Festival in May.
